The quantity of French vacationers coming to Oman in 2017 has gone up by 20 per cent year-on-year, taking the total to practically 50,000, according to H E Ahmed bin Nasser bin Hamad al Mehrzi, Minister of Tourism. France is also the third greatest contributor of vacationers to Oman amongst European nations.
H E Mehrzi was addressing a workshop in Paris final week which was attended by former French president Francois Hollande, 160 tourism and hotel business representatives, apart from 25 French journalists.
H E Mehrzi mentioned, “I am delighted to be with you again in Paris, the capital of beauty, tourism, history and civilisation, in the presence of dignitaries and partners in the diplomatic, tourism and media sectors. This meeting represents a new date for communication and strengthening of relations. It is being held to conclude Oman’s tourism promotional event organised by Omani Tourist Representation Office in France. This office will complete 16 years in Paris in May.”
He mentioned that the French tourism industry is at present ranked third (in Europe) in terms of the quantity of vacationers coming to Oman. “In 2017, 49,930 French tourists visited Oman compared to 41,366 in the previous year. It’s a remarkable 20 per cent increase.”
