Topics of discussion had been connected to the legislative and supervisory function of the State Council and the House of Lords.
The session was opened by Hon Dr Suad Mohamed Ali Sulaiman al Lawati, vice chairperson, State Council, with a speech highlighting the legislative and supervisory powers and competencies of the Council of Oman and the coordination among the State Council and Majlis A’Shura in working out these powers.
Hon Dr Suad touched on the joint meetings, meetings of the bureaus of the two councils as nicely as meetings of joint committees among the two councils.
She pointed out the distinctive functions that are the hallmark of developing of the Council of Oman and its distinctive architectural style, which contains typical halls and facilities that enable coordination of efforts and complementarity in efficiency.
The members of the State Council and the British House of Lords discussed the subjects of the session and the extent to which the function of the two councils is compatible with their powers. They discussed the legislative method, the stages of discussion of the draft laws, the function of the committees in the legislative function and the most crucial subjects getting studied by the committees in each homes.
