Security measures beefed up in Dhofar ahead of khareef season

Brig Mohsen bin Ahmed al Abri, commander of Dhofar Police Command stated that all police departments are placing their very best foot forward. “The Dhofar Police Command will provide all support to the police departments in order to provide the best services and ensure police presence in all tourist sites in the governorate and the areas surrounding it.”

The competent committees of the ROP have been holding numerous meetings and performed field visits to discover out all the essential needs and extend the safety umbrella to all the roads utilized by the guests to Dhofar governorate. They have also chosen suitable websites to set up safety points to allow policemen to offer numerous solutions to guests.

He added, “The ROP, its aviation wing and the Public Authority for Civil Defence and Ambulances (PACDA) will be present along the roads leading to Dhofar to tackle emergency situations and provide assistance to road users.”

Police, visitors patrol, particular job force units along with PACDA and coast guard units will be present at all the websites of the festival and the roads top to it to stop visitors jams, stated Brig Abri.

“We urge citizens, residents and visitors to adhere to the traffic rules and regulations and safety requirements such as maintenance of vehicles especially tyres. It is also important to adhere to the specified speed limit. Do not overtake at places where it is forbidden to do so. Keep the vehicle clean and maintain distance between vehicles. It is also important to be careful when taking mountain roads as visibility may be an issue. Pay attention to children and take care especially at tourist sites. Beware of stray animals.”
