OTC announces tour guide training for Omanis, expats

With the qualifying age of Omani and expat tour guides lowered to 18 and 25 respectively, OTC has opened registration for the eight-month course which also provides students the chance to discover a new language such as English, Russian, German or French. In an try to additional augment employment in the sultanate, particularly inside the tourism market, OTC has partnered with numerous organisations to introduce the training tied to employment chance.

As per a statement, Omani candidates have the prospect to be sponsored by these organisations pending interviews scheduled to be held on June 24. The course is anticipated to commence mid-July. All applicants should have completed either a higher-college diploma or a college diploma to be eligible to apply.

Dr Abdulkarim al Mughairi, dean of OTC mentioned, “With the Ministry of Tourism’s announcement for the revised ages to work as a tourist guide, more and more Omanis are showing a keen interest in gainful employment as tour guides. 2019 has been hailed as the year for Oman’s tourism, and economic experts have predicted the contribution of tourism to GDP is expected to rise to ten per cent from six per cent. Our vision is consistent with the nation’s strategy for growth and we aim to equip the leaders of tomorrow with the right tools to facilitate said development.”
