In a media interaction at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Wednesday, H E Dr Mohammed bin Awadh al Hassan, Permanent Representative of Oman to the UN and H E Marc J Sievers, US Ambassador to Oman officially announced the move which they mentioned is a step towards strengthening Oman-US relations.
While Omanis have been obtaining ten-year visas because January this year, US citizens began obtaining the identical from this week onwards. Both the sides expressed hope that this will contribute to much more industrial exchanges, specifically as there is a free of charge trade agreement in between the two nations.
H E Dr Hassan mentioned, “This new development in the visa system is a reflection of the level of the Omani-US relations. It is a direct reflection of the relations not only between both the countries but people-to-people contacts.”
He mentioned that the move will assist enhance company ties. “Oman has free trade agreement with the US. The move is a complimentary step towards our relations and it will not be the last one in our long-lasting ties.”
On his element, H E Sievers mentioned, Oman is the very first nation to be granted such a facility below the presidency of Donald Trump. “This is an important achievement that was agreed upon by the two governments. It took some months of discussions to agree on this and it is meant to be a way to facilitate more travel, tourism and business and investment between the two countries,” H E Sievers mentioned.
He mentioned that extending the validity period of visas will make it a lot simpler for folks to travel especially these who do so on a normal basis. “Our relations are enhancing in several techniques. We are marking the ten years of free of charge trade agreement which has expanded our trade and investment ties. We are now facilitating travel and tourism for longer periods of time.
“We have strong cooperations in many areas and in this context I would like to thank His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said for his strong support to ties between the US and Oman.”
