Mobile subscribers cross 6.59mn

On Tuesday, Oman’s population was four.68mn as per the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI).

Total quantity of mobile subscribers elevated by two.four per cent to six.596mn by April 2019, from six.440mn by the finish of December 2018. Of these, postpaid connections elevated by two.six per cent to 731,265 from 712,622 in December 2018.

Prepaid connections also rose by two.four per cent to five.865mn at the finish of April this year.

The quantity of subscribers of resellers plunged by 1.five per cent to 745,439 from 756,799 at the finish of December 2018.

Oman’s total Internet subscriptions, excluding active mobile subscriptions, surged by four.three per cent to touch 442,572 by the finish of April 2019, up from 424,284 by the finish of December 2018. Of these, fixed broadband Internet connections, which have much more than 256KB speed, elevated by four.three per cent to 440,403 by the finish of April 2019, according to the newest information released by NCSI.

The quantity of active mobile broadband subscribers rose by .four per cent to four.130mn by the finish of April 2019, from four.113mn subscribers by the finish of December 2018. Total fixed phone lines rose by two.three per cent to 573,188 by the finish of April 2019 compared to 560,326 by the finish of December 2018.

According to the NCSI report, the quantity of voice-more than-web protocol (VoIP) lines surged by five.five per cent to 190,019 from 180,186 by the finish of December 2018. Further, analogue fixed phone line connections rose by .six per cent to 326,184 from 324,129 in the course of the period below assessment. Public payphone connections remained unchanged at six,801, whereas ISDN channels rose by two per cent to 48,529.
