Fifteen teams participated in the biodiversity ideathon which seeks to create genetic resource-primarily based companies in order to produce worth for society and contribute to the diversification of the economy.
Over the two days of the occasion, the teams created their tips, ready presentations that they will provide just before the Ideathon’s jury on Sunday.
The contesting teams more than the two days interacted with mentors from each the scientific and entrepreneurship backgrounds.
Each of the 4 winning teams will be awarded RO2,500 and six-month incubation at the incubator of the Innovation and Technology Transfer Centre at Sultan Qaboos University.
The 4 winning teams of the ideathon will be announced on October 1. Abdullah al Balushi, member of the organising committee and a mentor at Manafa’a Ideathon 2019, mentioned, “The incubator at the Innovation and Technology Transfer Centre of Sultan Qaboos University will incubate the four winning ideas and assist them to create prototypes for their products.”
Balushi added, “After they are incubated for six months, we expect the prototypes of the products will be ready to be presented to business people and potential investors.”
An exhibition of the tips of the 15 contesting teams will be held to offer an chance for all the teams to be regarded as by the senior officials, businesspersons and investors just before the announcement of the winners.
