2,140 citizens employed in tourism sector from January-August 2019

Statistics released by the Ministry of Tourism (MoT) show that more than two,000 Omanis had been recruited in the travel sector from January-August 2019 as element of the National Program for Enhancing Economic Diversification. The information shows that 16,487 folks had been recruited in the sector till the mid of 2019. Of the recruited, two,140 had been Omanis.

The hotel sector topped in the tourism market in terms of supplying job possibilities provided to nationals with four,557 vacancies. These incorporated two,701 direct employment and 855 indirect ones.

The specialised technical team at MoT drafted an action program categorising organizations operating in tourism sector in terms of commitment to the Omanisation ratio and locating jobs appropriate for Omanis.

After finishing the needed database, the team began perform final March by holding meetings with the concerned organizations and establishments to talk about and approve timetables for instruction and recruiting certified Omanis.

These meetings resulted in supplying 375 Omanis with jobs in tourism among March and July this year. MoT also concluded an agreement with Oman Tourism College, National Training Institute and a quantity of tourism and travel organizations to recruit Omanis as tourist guides right after instruction.

In cooperation with the competent authorities, the technical team at MoT conducts a continuous adhere to-up of instruction and employment. The team prepares periodic reports on the challenges faced and the suggestions. MoT has also known as for tourism partners to participate in the initial job fair of tourism sector which will be held quickly.
