113 issued tourist guide licences in 2018: MoT

Muscat – 

The Ministry of Tourism (MoT) issued 113 licences for Omani tourist guides in 2018, an official stated. These integrated 54 basic guides, 44 neighborhood tour guides, a single specialist guide and 14 short-term guides, stated Eng Mohamed bin Mahmoud al Zadjali, director basic of Investor Services and Quality Management in MoT. 

Eng Zadjali was speaking at an occasion organised by the ministry to celebrate International Tourist Guide Day. The celebration was held below the patronage of Adel bin al Murdas al Busaidi, advisor for tourism affairs in MoT, and attended by a quantity of officials and tour guides.

Eng Zadjali stressed the value of the profession of tourist guidance and the pivotal part played by tour guides and their contribution to the business.

He stated there are 107 licensed English instructors, seven German-speaking instructors, 4 French speakers and a single Russian, Italian and Japanese instructors every.

He stated 33 tourist guides are active in Dhofar, seven in Muscat, 3 in Dakhliyah and a single in South Batinah. Licences of 49 Omani tour guides had been renewed in 2018.

Eng Zadjali noted that the profession is in demand amongst Omani girls as nicely. Dr Abdul Kareem al Mugheiri, dean of Oman Tourism College, delivered a speech on the part of the college in advertising the profession of tourist guide by means of courses and instruction students at perform web sites.
