Ali bin Amer al Shaibani, supervisor of the camp, stated, “The opening ceremony of the camp was held under the patronage of Sheikh Zahir bin Abdullah al Abri, member of the State Council, in the presence of officials and representatives of the participating groups in the camp. They included Oman Astronomical Society and the Astronomical Dome at PDO.”
The camp was held at the Jebel Shams Resort.
“The camp aimed to exchange understanding and create capabilities. It incorporated a series of theoretical lectures and specialised workshops in astronomical observation.
“Some astronomy and space enthusiasts in the sultanate and the Gulf presented their effective experiments in astronomy. Some specialists also presented lectures to educate young and stimulate their creativity in fields connected to astronomy and space.
“The camp showed astronomy-related efforts in the region and created channels of communication between astronomers and concerned parties. This is to coordinate efforts to promote the Arab astronomical content in the Internet and encourage the dissemination of astronomy in social media.”
