Muscat –

The Ministry of Health (MoH), represented by the Health Education &amp Awareness Programmes Department, in collaboration with the World Health Organization (WHO) organised an occasion to celebrate the 2018 World Health Day not too long ago.

The theme of this year’s World Health Day is ‘Universal Health Coverage: Everyone, everywhere’, beneath the slogan ‘Health for All’, stated a press release.

The occasion was held at Muscat Grand Mall beneath the auspices of H E Dr Ali bin Talib al Hinai, Undersecretary for Planning Affairs in the MoH.

Quoting the message of the acting regional director, Dr Jaouad Mahjour, Dr Akjemal Magtymova, WHO representative to the sultanate mentioned, “Universal health coverage is about ensuring access to essential quality care and financial protection. This not only enhances people’s health and their life expectancy, it also protects countries from epidemics, reduces poverty, creates jobs, drives economic growth and enhances gender equality.”

World Health Day is celebrated each year on April 7.
