Works of two Omanis recognised at Sony World Photography Awards

Organised by the World Photography Organisation, the Sony World Photography Awards is the world’s most diverse photography competitors. The 11th edition saw a record breaking 320,000 submissions by photographers from a lot more than 200 nations and territories, presenting some of the world’s finest modern photography captured more than the previous year. The international variety of entries show a massive diversity of imagery in terms of genre, style and topic matter across the awards’ 4 competitions: Professional, Open, Youth and Student Focus.

In the Open competitors, which rewards the very best single image across ten categories, an Omani duo has been honoured.

Abdulla al Mushaifri is an Omani national now living in Qatar. He won appreciation for his entry in Landscape &amp Nature.

Hamed al Ghanboosi’s function was awarded in the Street Photography category.
Mushaifri took his image ‘Milky Way Flower’ in Wadi Bani Khalid.

In the Street Photography category, Ghanboosi stood out with the image ‘Playing Time’, a joyful shot of young youngsters playing football at a playground in Naryn, Kyrgyzstan.
