To market and popularise science and technologies amongst students, the Science India Forum Muscat (SIF) will organise a contest for all Indian schools in Oman on May 11 and 12. Titled, ‘Science India Fiesta’, the contest will be held beneath the patronage of H E Indra Mani Pandey, India’s Ambassador to Oman and in association with the Vijnana Bharati India (VIBHA).
Robotic scientist and associate professor, Dr Prahlad Vadakkepat from the National University of Singapore will be the guest of honour for the occasion. SIF Muscat is a socio-academic conglomerate of students, teachers, businessmen and other experts functioning in Oman. During a press conference, G K Karanavar, president, SIF, stated, “The Science India Fiesta will be held on May 11 at the Indian School Wadi Kabir. Science Exhibition and Science Quiz will be held on May 12 at the Le Grande Hall, Al Falaj Hotel.
“Prior to the grand finale, a series of inter-school science competitions such as digital symposium, debate, science skits, on-the-spot science projects, photography, science project presentation by the teachers will also be held on May 11.” Karanavar added, “Along with the Science India Fiesta, we have been also organising the Sastra Pratibha contest since 2004.”
The 14th Sastra Pratibha contest was held on November 11, 2017 in all Indian schools in Oman. Six students had been chosen as Sastra Pratibhas from amongst three,500 students. Each winner will be awarded RO150 along with a memento and certificate, stated Karanavar. The Sastra Pratibha contest winners will also be felicitated on May 12.
