The manufacturing facility which has currently began its building activity will be operational in March 2019. The establishment of S V Pittie’s cotton-yarn plant in Sohar Free Zone is the initial step in establishing downstream industries in the textile sector in the sultanate. The new plant, coupled with the coaching centre, very competitive logistics facilities and a young, nicely-educated nearby workforce, will open up a quantity of future possibilities for investments in knitting, weaving, spinning and fabric manufacturing, which could in turn produce a thriving industrial cluster, inside the nearby neighborhood.
Being constructed with an investment of US$300mn, on a 27 hectare region, SV Pittie’s plant will be equipped with 150,000 spindles and two,400 rotors, and will supply almost 1,500 job possibilities. Financed by Bank Sohar, the Plant is targeted to be commissioned later this year. The imports of raw material, cotton, will be from the US, Australia, Europe and Turkey by means of Sohar Port.
