Oman Tourism College (OTC) recently held a graduation ceremony for 70 students successfully completing a range of short courses catering to Oman’s growing tourism industry, with their employers attending to celebrate the achievement of their recruits.

As the manager of Leisure and Operations at Travel City and Travel Point, Anthony Mendonca delivered the ceremony’s keynote speech.

Colleagues Sudeep Joseph and Rita D’Souza joined Mendonca as the head of Travel and Sr HR Coordinator respectively. Fellow market specialists attended from BTA, a top international meals and beverage business, as nicely as the National Training Fund (NTF), which served as sponsor of students participating in the quick courses programmes.

Dr Abdulkarim al Mughairi, dean of OTC, stated, “As educational professionals it gives us great pleasure to develop our students’ skills. Their graduation today reflects the investment we make in human capital and the prospects that await motivated learners and aspiring industry professionals. We offer our sincere congratulations to all departing OTC students and wish them the very best for their upcoming roles.”

He added, “OTC’s recent delivery of short courses has produced yet another tranche of qualified professionals with immediate employment across the travel and hospitality sectors. By crafting tailor-made courses for local and international company’s we are able to cater to market demand by providing the learning required to place talented youth at the heart of successful businesses across the country.”

A total of 53 students undertook six months of service centred hospitality instruction in preparation to join BTA, with an additional 5 finishing a slightly longer eight-month cooking course. Travel City and Travel Point are set to get 5 graduates following their completion of a course tailored to the travel and ticketing components of Oman’s tourism market.

As Oman’s very first specialised institute for instruction in tourism and hospitality, OTC gives up-to-date skilled and vocational programmes meeting each nearby and international requirements.
