Oman Olympic Committee conducts beach clean-up campaign in Darsait

Muscat – 

To conserve atmosphere and spread awareness amongst the folks on the significance of preserving ecology in the nation, the Oman Olympic Committee (OOC) held a beach cleaning campaign at Sahil Beach in Darsait on Saturday morning. Organised by OOC’s Oman Sports and Environment Committee, the occasion was held beneath the theme, ‘Sports for Development’.

The campaign comes as element of a project authorized by OOC’s Board of Directors and was held beneath the auspices of H E Tawfiq bin Abdul Hussain al Lawati, a member of the Shura Council and representative of the wilayat of Muttrah.

Ahmed Balushi, a volunteer stated, “Beaches are the pride of Oman and I am happy to be a volunteer in this cleanliness drive. Such campaigns are not only important to maintain the beauty of the beaches but also for marine life conservation.”

The committee will extend its initiatives and activities to contain numerous wilayats of the sultanate in coordination with the women’s societies, sports clubs and a quantity of stakeholders. It will also hold a quantity of seminars for associations, clubs and sports organisations.

Through its campaigns and other activities, the committee seeks to produce a sound environmental atmosphere exactly where numerous sports activities can be performed safely. Ahli Sidab Club, Oman Diabetes Association, scouts and girl guides and a quantity of dignitaries from the wilayat of Muttrah also took element in the campaign on Saturday.
