Organised by Oman Film Society (OFS) in association with the Embassy of India, and Kalamandalam Muscat, the festival will take location from August eight-10. The festival is element of the year-lengthy celebrations of 70 years of India’s independence.
Speaking about the occasion, H E Indra Mani Pandey, Ambassador of India to Oman stated, “India has had a relationship with Oman for almost 5000 years and this will add value to our cultural ties. Movies unite people from every culture and such an opportunity will add value to the community in Oman.”
Mohammad al Kindi, chairman of OFS stated, “We welcome motion pictures from each and every genre but maintaining in thoughts the religious and political sensitivity of the location.
“This is for the first time that an Oman-India Short Film Festival is being organised in Oman, with the participation of Indian and Omani filmmakers. Over the years Oman has produced some good movies.”
The festival is open to brief films made in English, Arabic or in any other Indian language. However, non-English brief films need to have English subtitles.
The aim of the festival is to motivate and encourage filmmakers in Oman. It is, as a result, needed that most scenes of the film must have been shot in Oman. The films must have been directed by an Indian expatriate residing in Oman, or an Omani national. The length of film need to be in between 5 and 15 minutes (such as titles).
The film must have been made or completed following December 31, 2015.
The final date for submission of entries is July 15.
