The National University of Science and Technology will be admitting students in September 2018. The Ministry of Higher Education (MoHE) had accorded permission to establish the university by merging two professional colleges in Oman.

New university to begin admissions in September

A ceremony was held to mark the launch of the National University of Science and Technology on Tuesday. It will contain the Caledonian College of Engineering, Oman Medical College and College of Pharmacy. MoHE and the Education Council not too long ago accepted their proposal to establish a new university.

The launching of the new university is a considerable milestone in the manifestation of social commitment of Sheikh Salim bin Said al Fannah al Araimi, Dr P Mohamed Ali, and the loved ones of late Mohamed bin Rasheed al Fannah al Araimi, who have founded the colleges.

Speaking to media, Sheikh Salim bin Said al Fannah al Araimi, who is the chairman of Board of Directors of the university, stated, “The National University of Science and Technology, which will remain a unique icon symbolising the university and its pioneering future in education, research and community service. Today, we are also pleased to announce the launch of the university website that is meant to be a useful platform to serve the education process in our country.”

The governance of the university is vested with the university Executive Board chaired by Dr P Mohamed Ali. A Board of Trustees which is the executive advisory physique of the university is constituted in accordance with the suggestions issued by MoHE.
