New passenger terminal at Duqm Airport to open in September

Celebrating the fourth anniversary of beginning operations on July 23, 2014, Sheikh Hosni stated that Duqm Airport is gearing as much as begin operations from the brand new passenger terminal. “It is 100 per cent managed by Omanis since starting operations at the temporary airport in July 2014. The airport has achieved the aims for which it was set up. Construction work at the new passenger terminal is nearing completion and will be opened in September 2018,” stated Sheikh Hosni.

He stated that the airport is a way for connecting Duqm to cities internationally. “It complements the great efforts made by the Special Economic Zone Authority in Duqm to put the zone on the world economic map and leverage its strategic location. The runway is designed to receive all types and sizes of aircraft and has a terminal with the capacity to handle 500,000 passengers per annum. It has waiting areas that are on par with other modern airports.”

The airport has obtained 120,000 passengers from the time it began operations until mid-July this 12 months on the Muscat-Duqm route. Oman Air has operated three,000 flights – six flights weekly.

The passenger terminal, which stretches over 5,600sq m has two boarding bridges, 5 test in-out counters and a 4km lengthy and 75m huge runway that may obtain the most important plane on the planet.

The eight-storey constructing features a 37m excessive air visitors management tower and places of work for air observers. The new passenger terminal is provided with eight baggage check-in methods, 5 cabins for renting automobiles and lodge reservation, along with airline places of work and a VIP lounge.
