The National Committee for Civil Defence (NCCD) held an extraordinary meeting on Wednesday beneath the chair of Lt Gen Hassan bin Mohsen al Shuraiqi, Inspector General of Police and Customs, to evaluation the readiness and preparedness efforts of the primary and supporting entities involved in dealing with the tropical situation anticipated to hit the sultanate.
The committee was briefed by specialists from the Public Authority for Civil Aviation (PACA) on the forecast of the tropical cyclonic situation and its possible impacts. The committee emphasised its continued enhancement of the sources and capabilities required to decrease the effects of the situation and all that would sustain healthcare solutions and other fundamental specifications for the protection of lives and properties.
The NCCD also directed the members of the committee to take all required measures to help the response operations in the governorates of Dhofar and Al Wusta, and to offer them with the required sources and capabilities. It also stressed its keenness to offer all specifications to deal with the climate situation.
