Muscat Gujarati Samaj celebrates 58th Gujarat Day with pride

In India, Gujarat Day is traditionally celebrated on May 1 each year and marks the foundation day for the state of Gujarat. It was on this day in 1960 that the erstwhile state of Bombay was divided on linguistic basis and two states, namely Gujarat and Maharashtra, came into existence. Often known as as ‘Jewel of Western India’, Gujarat has been on the international map because ancient occasions and thrives on its company acumen even these days.

To mark the momentous occasion of the 58th Gujarat Day, MGS had flown in a well-known trio of poets professional in humour and satire, namely Shahbuddin Rathod, Dr Jagdish Trivedi and Dhirubhai Sarwaiya. The trio took the audience into splits of laughter for much more than 3 hours, aptly suiting the title of occasion ‘Triputino No Hasya Tarkhat’, which means ‘Laughter Riot by the Trinity’.

Each of the poets had a special style of his personal and it was certainly extremely inventive to watch them derive humour from easy and genuine life scenarios and how effortlessly they have been converting the humour into proses and narrating the exact same to audience, with a subtle message. It was certainly an incredible occasion which, for the initial time, witnessed 3 adept artists of this stature converge on a single stage, each and every a single becoming much more effective in narration than the other.

The audience was left spellbound and actually glued to the edge of their seats, bursting into splits of laughter each now on then. The 3 artists coordinated extremely effectively amongst themselves and sequenced their presentations in such a seamless way that it was tough for the audience to judge as to which of the artist was in his peak kind on that day. Everyone from the age group of youngsters to senior citizens in the audience enjoyed the evening completely and went back with fond humorous memories of the evening.

The hall remained jam-packed all through the occasion and towards the finish, all the artists received a standing ovation from the audience.

The occasion of the 58th Gujarat Day celebrations right here in Muscat was graced by the presence of Anil Khimji, Kiran Asher, Kishor Vadher and Shabir Boriyawala and Yusuf Nalwala. These stalwarts from the company neighborhood lauded the efforts of the Muscat Gujarati Samaj towards presenting such delectable cultural events enthralling the audience and bringing them closer to their cultural and social roots.

MGS took the chance to felicitate all the 3 artists and Dr Jagdish Trivedi on behalf of the trio, expressed his sincere gratitude and appreciation of the camaraderie noticed in the Gujarati neighborhood settled right here in Oman for numerous decades now.
