A senior official from the Met workplace mentioned, “Until two days ago the temperature was too high but things settled down at 33°C on Monday. This has been the standard for the last two years. Muscat temperature will hover between 33°C and 36°C for the next few days. The temperature in Muscat dropped because of the direction of winds. The same pattern was observed last year as well.”
However, the temperature will be more than 40°C in Al Wusta and Sharqiyah governorates, he mentioned adding there will be a delay in showers in Muscat. “It usually rains in the beginning of April but there has been a delay because there is not enough moisture in the atmosphere in the coastal areas of Muscat and in the surrounding areas. The high pressure formation over many parts of the country also is a reason for the delay. However, Al Hajar Mountains will receive mild showers over the next two to three days.”
Last week, Muscat also witnessed haze due to dust storms in Saudi Arabia. “Fresh winds from the deserts of Saudi, which is near the sultanate led to the dust storms. Buraimi was the worst hit and other places too were affected.”
