The Ministry of Manpower, represented by the Directorate General for Labour Welfare, arrested 74 single workers from Muscat governorate. The arrested also incorporated, absconding, retrenched workers and infiltrators.
The arrests had been produced throughout an inspection campaign carried out on a rented home in Azaiba final week. Salim bin Saeed al Badi, director common of Labour Welfare, stated that this inspection campaign was performed primarily based on a number of complaints by citizens and residents in the location. Badi added that the ministry has a unique team that appears right after such complaints.
The ministry has held comparable inspections earlier as effectively in locations such as Seeb, Bausher, Muttrah, Amerat and Quriyat and arrested 524 violators. Highlighting the problem of single workers living in residential locations, Badi stated that the ministry seeks to quit the practice.
“This practice of housing single workers in residential areas goes against Omani culture. The carefree lifestyle of these workers could cause nuisance to those living with families.”
