The initiative, which will transform the entry of the marina, gives Omani artists a platform to showcase their art with a likelihood to win an award of OMR two,500. The deadline for applications is the 7th
of June 2018.
Maha Al Lamki, Owner of MCO, stated, “My focus has always been to contribute to the growth of Oman. There is an overwhelming amount of talent amongst our youth and it is time to remove the curtain and facilitate a space for them to flourish. Through this mural project, artists will have a chance to create artwork, reflective of Omani marine life that will be on display for all those entering the Jebel Sifah Marina.”
The mural project, which is open exclusively to Omani artists, will be painted on 1 wall of the entrance of the marina, with the dimensions of 20 metres by three metres. Applicants will be needed to produce their idea of the mural, which could be submitted as a sketch drawing or digital mock-up, with visuals relating to Oman’s marina and sea life. Colour suggestions consist of shades of blue, white, red, grey, chrome and any extra ideas produced by the artist. Artists will be needed to present an explanation of the artwork in terms of composition and components employed, bearing in thoughts that the mural must be in a position to withstand the climate and external influences. Applicants can go to the Jebel Sifah Facebook and Instagram pages to apply on-line. The winning artist will be announced by 21st
Ahmed Dabbous, CEO of Muriya stated, “Through this art project we are celebrating talented Omani artists while creating a window of opportunity to showcase their work. The marina mural project is part of our initiative to engage and promote Omani talent while showcasing the beauty of Oman’s marine landscape through local eyes. Jebel Sifah is a thriving getaway destination, and with its premium residences and world-class amenities, the mural will be enjoyed homeowners, visitors and tourists. We are excited to be collaborating with leading Omani entrepreneur Maha Al Lamki, who has generously volunteered to organise and manage the project. Maha, an artist and designer at heart, is a successful businesswoman in the fields of interior design, events management and communications.”
