Internet subscribers grow by 10.8 per cent

Internet subscribers develop by 10.eight per cent

Muscat – 

The total quantity of Internet subscribers in the sultanate, excluding active mobile broadband subscribers, rose by 10.eight per cent to 389,434 by the finish of June 2018, compared to the quantity of subscribers in December 2017.

Of this, the fixed broadband Internet connections, which have a lot more than 256Kb speed, improved by 10.9 per cent to 387,093 in the very first six months of 2018, according to the most recent information released by the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI).

The remaining two,341 subscribers have been fixed narrowband Internet clients, who have a speed of much less than 256Kb.

The NCSI report also noted that the quantity of active mobile broadband subscribers declined by three.two per cent to four.21mn by the finish of June 2018, from four.35mn subscribers by the finish of December 2017.

Total fixed phone lines improved by 7.7 per cent to 536,335 by the finish of June 2018.
