The International Telecommunication Union’s Arab Regional Cybersecurity Centre hosted and managed by the Information Technology Authority (ITA), organised the Oman Threat Hunters Competition.

Information Technology Authority concludes Oman Threat Hunters Competition

The neighborhood challenge was carried out at Sas Centre for Mobile Apps Development at ITA premises. The competitors was organised in cooperation with Silensec Company and the National Security Service Group.

The competitors targeted youth in the age group of 17 to 24 years, who are interested in info safety. The competitors aimed to discover Arab talents in discovering cybersecurity threats. The competitors focused on a quantity of subjects such as ethical hacking, defending infrastructure systems, malware evaluation and digital forensics evaluation. In the sultanate, out of 260 participants, only 40 have been selected to compete.

The challenge is carried out in a number of Arab nations and every nation targets 50 talents, from which 3 will be selected to compete in the regional challenge that will be hosted in Kuwait in October.

The ITU-ARCC was launched in December 2012 by the ITU and the sultanate represented by the ITA. The centre gives help for Arab nations to establish national cyber safety centres, assist obtain international recognition and give them the chance to advantage from the solutions supplied by the Regional Centre, in cooperation with ITU.
