The Indian community at Ghala Golf Club recently celebrated Indian Independence day and Indo Oman friendship.

Indo-Oman friendship celebrated

The Ghala golf course was in beautiful situation the difficult climate situation created the competitors a excellent test for all the players. Over 90 players from different nationalities and their households took component in celebrating the friendship.

Ananth Padmanabhan, organising committee member, welcomed all and highlighted the significance of the celebration. 

The vice president of the Ghala GC Board Ibrahim al Wahaibi, Tim Neil, basic manager Ghala Golf club, and H E Manabile Shogole, Ambassador of South Africa to Oman, and Khalil al Wahaibi graced the occasion with cutting the ceremonial cake along with vice captain Prakash S J and Padmanaban. The competitors was stableford format and held in 3 divisions to enable all level golfers to have opportunity to win in the tournament. In the initial category to 9 HCP, the winner was Nasaruddin Mohammed with 41 points, initial runner-up was Anil Sethi with 39 points and the second runner-up was Jalal Islam with 38 points. In the second division 10 to 18 HCP, the winner was Abdulla Nasser with 42 points, the initial runner-up was Juan Benayas with 40 points and second runner-up was Fauzi Adnan with 39 points. 

In the third division 20 to 28 HCP, the winner was Nesh barwani with 40 points, the initial runner-up was Ashwin Chowdry with 40 points and the second runner-up was Sohil Mikarni with 38 points. Lukas Janoska hit a monster 300 yards drive at complete no 16 to win the longest drive and Sanjay Gupta managed to get nearest to the pin on a single of the toughest par three hole in the course, the fifth. The Ladies division was won by Marylyn Hayes with 36 points, and Jeff Campbell claimed the gross prize with a terrific 77. Ghala Golf Club vice captain Prakash stated, “It was a wonderful social occasion and thanked all sponsors, Ghala Golf Club, OmanTel, Mumtaz Mahal, WH Smith, Woodlands, Dawat Restaurant, The View and Aerotel, who supported the occasion and created it memorable. The enjoyable filled evening concluded with excellent dancing, courtesy DJ Mehul, and a sumptuous dinner.
