H E Bakri concerns choice on random healthcare tests amongst workers in a number of sectors

Muscat – 

H E Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Abdullah al Bakri, Minister of Manpower has issued a choice amending some provisions of the Omani Labour Law connected to occupational security and wellness measures in establishments.

In the choice, H E Bakri has amended Article 24 of the Omani Labour Law to bring in the adjustments. As per the new choice, it is mandatory for firms in the oil and gas sector, the electrical energy and water sector, port and airport operators to undertake random healthcare tests in workers. “Firms must ensure that work sites are free of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances and alcoholic beverages,” the choice stated.

The choice is primarily based on the Omani Labour Law issued by Royal Decree 35/2003 and the Regulations on Occupational Safety and Health in Establishments topic to the Labour Law promulgated by Ministerial Decision 286/2008.
