The sultanate’s fixed broadband Internet subscription surged by five.five per cent to 368,046 in the very first two months of 2018. The total quantity of Internet subscribers in the sultanate, excluding active mobile broadband solutions, rose by five.four per cent to 370,428 in the course of January-February, according to the newest information released by the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI).
The report also noted that the quantity of active mobile broadband subscribers decreased by five.four per cent to four.12mn by finish-February, from four.35mn subscribers by December-finish 2017. The total fixed phone lines edged up by three.six per cent to 515,710 by the finish of February 2018, from 497,716 subscribers by December-finish 2017.
The quantity of Voice-more than-Internet Protocol (VoIP) lines also surged by 9.7 per cent to 134,885 from 122,949 subscribers by the finish of December 2017. Analogue fixed connections edged up by 1.five per cent to 325,769 from 320,799 subscribers in the course of the period below assessment. Public payphone remained unchanged at six,801 connections, whereas ISDN channels and WLL connections rose by two.four per cent and .1 per cent to 46,578 and 1,677 connections, respectively.
