Explorer Anisa al Raisi visits NHI

Muscat –

Students at National Hospitality Institute (NHI) had been excited to be visited by the well-known Omani adventurer Anisa al Raisi, who has just accomplished the extraordinary feat of becoming the initial Omani lady to ski the Geographic North Pole in eight days.

Last month, Anisa joined the Women’s Euro Arabian North pole Expedition 2018 led by British polar explorer Felicity Aston MBE and set off for a difficult expedition exactly where she managed to ski more than 80km on tough terrain.

Robert Maclean, principal of NHI, mentioned, “Anisa is now sharing her experiences with other young Omanis and showing them how they can push their boundaries. We were delighted to welcome Anisa to NHI and were inspired by her story, which has motivated many of our students to volunteer for our camping trips to Jebel Akhdar sponsored by Outward Bound Oman. As part of the students’ Pride in the Job programme or Iftikhar, it is important that they are given opportunities to experience sharing tasks and self reliance. This will prepare them better for the world of work.”
