The Ministry of Transport and Communications has announced via its Twitter account that commercial operations of the passenger terminal at Duqm Airport will commence on September 17.

The ministry confirmed that perform on the project has been completed with the participation of all relevant authorities.

It also stated that it has produced the required arrangements to facilitate the smooth flow of passengers in the new creating.

Work on the new passenger terminal at Duqm Airport began in July 2014.

The airport will connect Duqm to cities across the planet. “It complements the fantastic efforts produced by the Special Economic Zone Authority at Duqm to place Duqm on the planet financial map and leverage its strategic place. The runway is created to get all kinds and sizes of aircraft and has a terminal with the capacity to manage 500,000 passengers annually.

“It has waiting areas that are on par with other modern airports,” the Twitter feed mentioned.

The airport has received 120,000 passengers because it began operations till mid-July this year on the Muscat-Duqm route Oman Air has operated three,000 flights – six flights weekly.

The passenger terminal, spread more than five,600sq m, has two boarding bridges, 5 verify-in and verify-out counters, and a runway of 4km length and 75m width that can get the greatest aircraft in the planet.

The eight-storey creating consists of a 37m air visitors handle tower and offices for observatories. The new passenger terminal is equipped with eight baggage verify-in systems, automobile rental and hotel reservation facilities, in addition to airline offices and a VIP lounge.
