The Wildlife Protection Units of the Department of Environment and Climate Affairs in South Sharqiyah arrested a number of citizens for attempting to poach two Arabian Ibex. The arrests were made in cooperation with the ROP at Wadi al Jarfa in Jebel Qahwan Nature Reserve in the South Sharqiyah governorate.

The Wildlife Protection Units of the Department of Environment and Climate Affairs in South Sharqiyah arrested a quantity of citizens for attempting to poach two Arabian Ibex. The arrests had been created in cooperation with the ROP at Wadi al Jarfa in Jebel Qahwan Nature Reserve in the South Sharqiyah governorate.

The accused had been arrested whilst they had been preparing to hunt in a automobile. The officials who had been tracking their movements thwarted the try and confiscated all products such as the automobile from their possession and handed more than to the relevant authorities.

The case has been transferred to the concerned authorities for conducting additional investigations and legal action against the accused. The Ministry of Environment and Climate Affairs (MECA) has referred to as on citizens, residents and vacationers to abide by the law and preserve the atmosphere or face legal action.

Such acts are deemed to be contrary to the provisions of Royal Decree six/2003 on Law on Nature Reserves and Wildlife Conservation of Article 15 (B). The law stipulates that any person who intentionally kills, hunts or smuggles any animal or bird listed in Annex 1 or any of their physique component thereof shall be sentenced to an imprisonment for a period not significantly less than six months and not a lot more than 5 years and a fine not significantly less than RO1,000 and not exceeding RO5,000 or 1 of these legal actions.
