Children from sultanate dazzle at India’s Regional Abacus Competitions

These regional abacus competitions have been held in various cities in India, namely Kochi, Coimbatore and Trichy throughout July. The champion trophy is the highest accolade that a single can attain in their respective categories. More than 10,000 contestants collectively in Kochi, Coimbatore and Trichy have been divided into 12 categories and every category additional into sub-categories according to the age and level of the course the youngsters are presently pursuing. In the assessment of their talent, contestants have been offered 3 minutes to full sums, some with the assist of the abacus and some without having.

The winners from Oman are 1. Ajay Senthil Kumar, grade 1, Indian School Ghubra, from Brainobrain Ghubra Centre won the champion trophy in the Little BOB Module three category, Coimbatore Regional Competition: July 22 two. R Laxmi Naarayanan, grade three, Indian School Seeb, from Brainobrain Ghubra Centre won the champion trophy in Level three category, Coimbatore Regional Competition: July 22 three. Shazana Falak M A, grade three, Indian School Nizwa, from Brainobrain Nizwa Centre won the champion trophy in the Little BOB Module two category, Coimbatore Regional Competition: July 22 four. S Swati Annapoorni, grade 1, Indian School Darsait, from Brainobrain Wadi Kabir Centre won the champion trophy in the Little BOB Module three category, Trichy Regional Competition: July 15 five. S Soorya Narayanan, grade two, Indian School Darsait, from Brainobrain Wadi Kabir Centre won the gold topper medal in the Little BOB Module three category, Trichy Regional Competition: July 15 six Minnah Fathima, grade three, Indian School Wadi Kabir, from Brainobrain Wadi Kabir Centre won the gold topper medal in the Little BOB Module three category, Kerala Regional Competition: July 29 7. Avinash Balamurugan, grade two, Indian School Muscat, from Brainobrain Ghubra Centre won the gold topper medal in the Little BOB Module two category, Trichy Regional Competition: July 15 eight. B Anuraag, grade two, Indian School Darsait, from Brainobrain Wadi Kabir Centre won the silver topper medal in the Little BOB Module three category, Trichy Regional Competition: July 15.

“These regional, international and national competitions that we organise are aimed at developing the child’s competitive skills. It is refreshing to see such strong performances from team Oman; they have prepared well and have reaped the benefits of their hard work. I would like to congratulate all the participants and wish them the best in the upcoming 2nd National Abacus Competition in Oman which will be in February 2019”, stated Anand Subramaniam, managing director of Brainobrain International.

Aysha Haroon, mother of Shazana Falak, a single of the champions from Oman, stated, “My daughter has made me proud. I thank Brainobrain Oman’s faculty for keeping my child motivated. I am also thankful to Brainobrain for providing such a platform to my child to exhibit her memory and concentration skills.
