Among the ancient settlements in Bahla is the Harat al Nadwa situated in the centre of the wilayat, west of the well-known Bahla Fort. It is believed that this settlement was recognized as Badwa earlier.

According to researcher Zakaria bin Amir al Himimi, who is from Bahla, Harat al Nadwa comprises 70 homes constructed in the style of standard Omani architecture.

It was a significant centre of the textile business in the wilayat. The inhabitants have been well-known for their talent in spinning of wool and yarn. They made a well-known style of textile known as Alezar.
